everyone’s minds, was the 2009 Disney’s A Christmas Carol the only IMAX 3D Christmas movie ever
made?

Often remembered as that other Jim Carey Yuletide movie
besides The Grinch it is hard to believe that the 2009 Disney’s A Christmas
Carol was by so far the only IMAX 3D movie ever made. Given that in recent
years artistic merit driven virtual reality 3D movies had been proliferating at
the Tribeca Film Festival, Yuletide themed IMAX 3D movies should have been the
year-end holiday season staple, but why the dearth of the so-called IMAX 3D
Christmas Movies?
After the gleeful optimism in search of the next IMAX 3D
blockbuster like James Cameron’s Avatar died down, it seems like everyone in
America who can afford to be early adopters of IMAX 3D at home seems to have
lost interest on anything 3D related. To the dismay of consumer electronic
manufacturers, the time it took for affluent America to have lost interest in
3D in such a short time given that it took decades for majority of affluent
America to have lost interest in surround-sound high fidelity audio, never mind
stereo.
From the audience’s perspective, it seems that IMAX 3D can
be the ideal platform for whiz-bang Yuletide flavored visual extravaganza. Just
ask anyone who recently visited a high-end Christmas décor exposition. And
Dickensian from the casual observer’s perspective it may be, many have probably
wondered if The Grinch move that stars Jim Carey will be re-released in IMAX 3D
in the near future just to fill in the gap in Yuletide themed IMAX 3D Christmas
Movies.
